The Challenges We Didn’t Expect While Setting This Up | Selfscape Studios
Starting a business is always an adventure, but even with careful planning, some challenges catch you by surprise. Setting up my self-portrait studio was no different. We thought the hardest part would be building the physical space, but that turned out to be the smoothest part. It was everything else that became unexpectedly complicated.
One of the biggest surprises was how long it took to get the website just right. Endless adjustments, fine-tuning, and back-and-forth decisions turned it into a time-consuming process. Every little tweak; colors, fonts, photo layouts; took more time than we imagined.
Building an online presence was another challenge. Social media needed constant updates, and growing an audience from scratch required creativity and effort. Balancing this with other tasks wasn’t easy.

Finding affordable, reliable help was also tricky. From design to marketing, getting quality work within budget wasn’t always simple. Even logistics were a struggle; delays in shipping, sourcing the right gear, and endless little add-ons stretched the timeline.
Ironically, building the studio was the easiest part. It was the little details, the constant adjustments, that made it challenging. But despite it all, we’re proud of what’s been built and excited to share it with you.
